All about the

monthly challenges

are you in it to win it?

Push yourself to be better.

The monthly challenges occur from the first Friday of the month (usually!) and end always on the last day of the month at midnight, UK time.

Vital challenge points are noted here:

  • Open to all
  • Must not feature bought assets (overlays, skies, brushes)
  • Must be your own work
  • Can be of clients or unpaid shooting
  • Prizes are not awards – but you will get Pins (see below)
  • Completely free to enter
  • Sometimes have prizes!

Past winners have gone on to create award-winning art and some have created successful photography businesses too!

What do you get?

If you win one of the top 3 spaces, you’ll receive a Pin. The Pin can be placed over your winning image and shared on social channels! If you win a Pin, please email the team for the PNG file to pop on your photo! Information about each Pin can be found below.

For example, the Challenge winner for September 2020 shown with their Gold Pin can be seen here (well done Lorenzo!).

Bronze Pin

Achieving a Bronze Pin is an amazing win for you. It shows that you have a technically sound photograph which met the challenge criteria in all points but was just pipped to the post by a couple of other images. A Bronze Pin is something to celebrate, share and build upon for the next challenge!

Silver Pin

Achieving a Silver Pin is incredibly difficult. A Silver Pin shows that you have technical and artistic prowess and are capable of creating simply stunning artwork. A Silver Pin is often at the same level as a Gold Pin but the decision came down to the wire. Celebrate with gusto!

Gold Pin

Achieving a Gold Pin is really quite an accolade. Out of (usually) over 100 other challenge entries, you took top spot. A Gold Pin means that you won the challenge, nailing technical control and artistic excellence in equal measure. You should shout this from the rooftops!
